1.6 million daily orders. That is what JioMart processes via WhatsApp in India.
Spain is trying this now. Eroski launched a pilot in Bilbao. A busy father texts "milk, eggs, pasta." The AI builds the cart. 60-minute delivery.

As an expert, I do not buy the PR. Let's test their 4 corporate claims:

"For the weekly shop." Questionable. You cannot buy fresh counter products, or bulk items. Families in Spain need fresh food. This tool is mostly for heavy liquids or emergency dry goods.

"Inclusive for seniors." Maybe. Texting is easy. But older users still have to click a link and navigate a digital payment gateway. We have no data showing they actually finish the transaction.

"It saves money." A trick. The AI selects the cheapest item by default. This just forces Eroski's high-margin private label (marca blanca) into your cart. They control the digital shelf.

"Quick commerce is sustainable." Unviable. They charge €0.50 to €2.50 for delivery. This does not cover the cost to pick, pack, and drive. They take a heavy loss per order to buy data.

My verdict?
Eroski is testing a high-margin (private label push) vs. high-cost (subsidized delivery) model. Watch the pricing structure; the current iteration is built to buy data, not to turn an immediate profit.
